First Solo!!!

So I can’t decide if to keep a log of every flight as I’m not sure it will be that interesting to look back on!! I’ve got notes that I add to so I have a single resource to refer to. Since my last log I’ve done a few lessons on circuits doing various normal aproach, flappless approach, glide approaches and a couple of short field simulations.

Today however was my first SOLO!!!! I had my medical last week, there was a query about the fact I have a small amount of colour blindness. My Dr consulted with the CAA and for now I have a daytime VFR restriction on my medical. I can take a CAD test at Heathrow later on if I want to try and have that lifted, until I have my PPL there is no point!

So we went out and did a couple of normal touch and gos, a flapless and a glide approach to land …. my instructor got out and then left me to go off on my own! I did 4 circuits, some a little sloppy but such a great feeling to be flying by myself … I wasn’t too concerned that I had no one on my right anymore.

My approaches still seem too high so I am pretty much gliding all the way down final … I need to get off the power earlier I think so that I am lower on final to keep a little power on (1500rpm) so the final approach is more stable.

Loved it though, great fun … exhasuted after 30 minutes though!!
