First Flight!

Well, not quite my first flight as I have previously had a test flight in a C152 and a powered glider lesson a couple of years ago. This was my first flight with the aim of heading towards my PPL, in a Piper Warrior.

I booked an hour flight with James at http://www.airfirst.co.uk/ at Blackbushe airport. I got to fly for most of the session practicing turning, climbing, trimming, holding altitude and James only took over to demonstrate something, to turn us quickly away from a Chinook and to enter the aerodrome area and land.

It was great fun and I can’t wait for another flight! I’m going to book a test flight at White Waltham (WLAC) to compare.

My first goal, once I choose a school, is to get ready for the first solo which means I need to pass the first exam, Air Law, and get my class 2 medical done! I’ve signed up with pplcruiser.com and a couple of iOS apps to help with the exams!

Summary:

Pick a reference point on the dashboard to line up with the horizon to keep straight and level.

When banking as you roll the aircraft you will need a little back pressure on the yoke as the nose will drop slightly.

Once the aircraft is flying straight and level trim until there is zero pressure on the yoke and it will fly straight and level.
